Most people see their pets as part of the family. We love and care for our pets. They return the love and are totally dependent on us. A pet trust is a legally sanctioned way of making sure your pet will be properly cared for when you pass away or become incapacitated. This is a legal document enforceable in most states. You can select a person or private service to be the trustee of the pet trust. This person will carry out your instructions for the care of the animal if you’re unable. Money can be set aside for the trustee to use for this purpose. Your instructions can cover many concerns such as the type and amount of food your pet is to be fed and how often it visits the veterinarian. You may add provisions for regular walks or interaction with other animals. Maybe your dog loves the park and you wish for these outings to continue.
The Living Trust Source recommends that pet owners consider a pet trust to ensure the proper care of their companion when they become incapacitated or pass away.
